School Policy

Updated: September 1, 2022
NOTICE TO STUDENTS - If you have any questions or difficulty regarding the course content, please contact our administrative team at NJREI@fourterealestate.com and we will be happy to assist you.

ENROLLMENT POLICY – The New Jersey Real Estate Institute is open to the general public and is licensed by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission to conduct salespersons and broker's pre-licensing courses as well as continuing education core courses.

STANDARD FOR CERTIFICATION TOT AKE STATE EXAMINATION - To receive certification from NJREI to sit for the state exam, students must score 70% or higher on the final examination. Students must also attend at least 80% of the class session hours required for the course. N.J.A.C. § 11:5-2.2(s). If a student cannot attend their scheduled final exam for any reason or if a student scores lower than 70% on the final exam for the course, they may (re)take the test one (1) time free of charge. Any subsequent retakes will be charged a $10.00 fee.
“Providers of distance learning courses shall use procedures that provide reasonable
assurance of student identity and verification that the student receiving the continuing
education credit for completing the course is actually the individual who performed all
of the work required to complete the course;” N.J. Admin. Code § 11:5-12.14.
In compliance with the above New Jersey regulation, attendance in a remote learning classroom requires that your camera be on and that you be fully in its line of sight for at least 80% of each lecture. That is equivalent to at least four (4) out of five (5) hours. If these remote learning requirements are not met, you will be marked absent for that class session. All classes start on time. If a student is more than fifteen (15) minutes late to a class at the start of after a break, that time will be deducted from the student’s course hours stated previously. If a student does not meet the hours requirement for the class in which they enrolled, they may sit in on a future class for $10.00 fee to make their course hours requirement.

School records are maintained by the school and are available for a period of at least five (5) years.

PAYMENT POLICY - Prospective students may pay a $50 nonrefundable deposit to hold their seat in the course. This deposit pays for the student’s textbook and any associated shipping and handling costs. Full payment is required no less than seven (7) days before the course start date. All students must pay electronically. We do not accept cash, checks, or money orders. In order to submit the course registration form, students will be asked to pay their initial deposit. They will receive instructions regarding how to pay their remaining balance in an email sent to the address they enter in the registration form. Please make sure to check your spam/junk folder and trash if you do not see it in your inbox. If you are still having trouble finding it, please email or call us to confirm your email address.

Financial aid is not available through New Jersey Real Estate Institute.

WITHDRAWAL - Any student who wishes to withdraw from the class must do so in writing, addressed to the director of the school, no less than 72 hours prior to the start date for the class in order to obtain a refund of your deposit. No refunds will be issued after the first class is completed as noted below. The Instructor or Director will review the New Jersey Real Estate Commission screening questions for a licensee candidate such as a criminal history check, etc. during the first session of the course. Any student who does not meet the eligibility requirements may withdraw with a full refund by the end of the first day of class.

REFUND / TUITION POLICY - All students must read and agree to our School Tuition Refund Policy as written below upon entrance into a course per requirements of the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.

Every student that is paid in full will be guaranteed a seat in class. Registration may be limited. Registrations are accepted on a first-paid, first-confirmed basis. Upon receipt of your registration, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment in the course. Confirmation emails are sent out within 24 hours of receipt of registration (not including weekends). Until you have received a confirmation email, you are not confirmed as enrolled in the course.

Tuition will be refunded if a class is cancelled or at capacity.

Tuition will be fully refunded to any student who, after reading the screening questions, believes that a license will not be issued because of these questions. A student may request a refund in writing up to 72 hours prior to the commencement of the course, for the refundable portion of the tuition. A $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refundable portion of tuition if the student does not notify the Director in writing at least 72 hours prior to the start date for any class they withdraw from. No tuition will be refunded after the first meeting of the class excepted as stated above.

SALESPERSON PRE-LICENSURE & BROKER PRE-LICENSURE COURSES - Tuition is due in full one (1) week prior to scheduled start date or forfeiture of seat may occur. If you are putting a deposit down to hold your seat in class, please make a note to pay the balance of the tuition at least one (1) week prior to the start date you have selected.

You may transfer to another start date free of charge one time. To transfer free of charge, you must provide written notification one (1) week in advance of your start date; then, you will receive written confirmation from us. Your new start date must be within one year of your original start date. If you have not provided one (1) week's written notice, we will allow you to transfer to another course within one year of your original start date for a $10 transfer fee, so long as there is space available in that course.

CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) COURSES - Tuition is transferable to another course/start date within one (1) year of your original start date for a $10 transfer fee. If you have signed up for multiple courses at one time, the transfer fee is applied once, not to each course individually. Tuition is not transferable to another person or pro-ratable.

CERTIFICATION / CERTIFICATE OF COURSE COMPLETION - To obtain Certification to sit for the NJ State Real Estate Salesperson or to obtain a Certificate of Course Completion, a student must meet all the requirements specified in Paragraph 3 and pay their tuition balance in full. A student may take the final examination up to 3 times. In the event the certificate is lost, a duplicate may be obtained from the school by request. An administrative fee of $10 will be charged for the duplicate.

If a student misses more than 20% of class time (including homework), the class must be started again. (Please see below table for equivalent hour values.) All classes start on time. If a student is more than 15 minutes late either at the start of class or after a break, that time will be counted toward the 20% stated previously.
