NOTICE TO STUDENTS

1. ENROLLMENT POLICY
The New Jersey Real Estate Institute is open to the general public and is licensed by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission to conduct Salesperson and Broker Pre-licensing courses as well as Continuing Education core courses. All courses offered will be completed remotely. Moodle is our remote learning interface where students will complete all their assignments and exams.
2. SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF COURSE
To satisfactorily complete a prelicensure course, students must score 70% or higher on the school final examination and satisfy the attendance requirements. If a student cannot attend their scheduled final exam for any reason or if a student scores lower than 70% on the final exam for the course, they may retake the test one (1) time free of charge. Subsequent retakes will be charged a $30.00 fee.

If a student misses more than 20% of class time (including homework), the class must be started again. (Please see below table for equivalent hour values.) All classes start on time. If a student is more than 15 minutes late either at the start of class or after a break, that time will be counted toward the 20% stated previously.

“Providers of distance learning courses shall use procedures that provide reasonable assurance of student identity and verification that the student receiving the continuing education credit for completing the course is actually the individual who performed all of the work required to complete the course;” N.J.A.C. § 11:5-12.14.
In compliance with the above New Jersey regulation, attendance in a remote learning classroom requires that the student’s camera be on and that they be fully in its line of sight for at least 80% of each lecture. If these remote learning requirements are not met, the student will be marked absent for that class session. All classes start on time.
3A. If a student does not complete 80% of attendance, the student will need to make up in the upcoming course to complete the hours.
3B. If a student does not complete 80% of homework, the student makes up by doing the homework to credit complete the hours.
3C. If a student takes a leave of absence and/or class cuts, the student must still attend at least 80% of the class session hours required for the course.
3D. If a student is more than 15 minutes late either at the start of class or after a break, that time will be counted toward the 20% of the course they can miss.
School records are maintained and are available for five (5) years.
4. PROGRESS RECORDS/ACADEMIC PROGRESS
All progress records are accessible to students via Moodle.
Student is considered under “good academic standing” if the student scores a 70% or higher on the school final examination and satisfy the attendance and homework requirements stated in Section 3.
Student is considered under “ unsatisfactory academic standing” if they fail to satisfy the attendance and homework requirements stated in Section 3 and/or score lower than a 70% on the school final examination.
5. GRADING SYSTEM
Students can access their grades for their homework, attendance, and final exam via Moodle. Once student completes 80% of homework and attendance and scores a 70% or above on the school final examination, they have successfully completed the course.
6. ROLLING ADMISSION
Salesperson students may start on Day 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 of a course but must complete any missed days in a subsequent course in order to satisfy the 80% attendance requirement under N.J.A.C. 11:5-2.1
7. MAXIMUM SCHOOL ADMISSION
Sixty students can be enrolled per cohort.
8. FACULY TO STUDENT RATIO
Maximum of 1:60.

10. WITHDRAWAL
Any student who wishes to withdraw from the class must do so in writing, addressed to the director of the school, no less than 72 hours prior to the start date for the class to receive the refundable portion of tuition. No refunds will be issued after the first class is completed as noted below. The Instructor or Director will review the New Jersey Real Estate Commission screening questions for a licensee candidate such as a criminal history check, etc. during the first session of the course. Any student who does not meet the eligibility requirements may withdraw with a full refund by the end of the first day of class.
Student must complete all course instruction within sixty (60) days of registration to the course. If the student fails to complete the course within sixty (60) days, their registration will be considered terminated, and he/she will need to re-register and attend a future course.
11. REFUND / TUITION POLICY
Per N.J.A.C. § 11:5-2.2(o), all students must read and agree to the below policy upon entrance into a course.
Every student that is paid in full will be guaranteed a seat in class. Registration may be limited. Registrations are accepted on a first-paid, first-confirmed basis. Upon receipt of your registration, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment in the course. Confirmation emails are sent out within 24 hours of receipt of registration (not including weekends). Until you have received a confirmation email, you are not confirmed as enrolled in the course.
Tuition will be refunded if a class is cancelled or at capacity.
Tuition will be refunded to any student who, after reading the screening questions, believes that a license will not be issued because of these questions.
A student may request a refund in writing up to 72 hours prior to the commencement of the course, for the refundable portion of the tuition. A $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refundable portion of tuition if the student does not notify the Director in writing at least 72 hours prior to the start date for any class they withdraw from. No tuition will be refunded after the first meeting of the class excepted as stated above.
The student has the option to reschedule their course for a future date, if they wish not to terminate the course.
If student chooses to terminate their registration during the course, student will receive a refund less the cancellation fee, book charges, and shipping fees.

12. TRANSFERS
For Salesperson and Broker Pre-licensure courses, you may transfer to another start date free of charge one time. To transfer free of charge, you must provide written notification one (1) week in advance of your start date; then, you will receive written confirmation from us. Your new start date must be within one year of your original start date. If you have not provided one (1) week's written notice, we will allow you to transfer to another course within one year of your original start date for a $10 transfer fee, so long as there is space available in that course.
13. CERTIFICATION/CERTIFICATE OF COURSE COMPLETION
To obtain Certification to sit for the NJ State Real Estate Salesperson or to obtain a Certificate of Course Completion, a student must satisfactorily complete their course as stated above and pay their tuition balance in full. A student may take the final examination up to three (3) times. In the event the certificate is lost, a duplicate may be obtained from the school by request. An administrative fee of $10 will be charged for the duplicate.
14. COURSE ATTEMPTS
A student is allowed a maximum of three attempts to successfully complete a course within one year from the original start date of the course they initially signed up for. In the event that a student is unable to complete the course successfully within the stipulated timeframe, they may be subject to further academic evaluation or counselling to determine the best course of action moving forward.
15. STUDENT CONDUCT / DISCIPLINARY POLICIES
When taking our educational courses, students are expected to comply with all policies as stated within this notice. Failure to adhere to these policies may invalidate student eligibility for course credit. (These situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.)
16. UNSATISFACTORY CONDUCT
Students may be dismissed for failing to maintain the minimum standards (see Section 3) or for engaging in disruptive or distracting behavior during the lecture.
17. PREVIOUS COURSE CREDIT
*Only applies to CE & Refresher Courses* Students will need to provide their License number in order to receive their course completion certificates.
18. EXAM PREP
If a student has registered for our 75-Hr Salesperson Course or 90-Hr Broker Salesperson Course, they are allowed to sit in Exam prep class (free of charge) up to one year since their completion of said course.
19. WHAT TO BRING
Students should bring a notebook, pen/pencil, a basic calculator, and a highlighter.
20. ADA ACCOMMODATIONS
Any Individual who has a physical or mental impairment or limitation described as a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and requires any special accommodation, must contact the school before enrolling. Certain accommodations require the New Jersey Real Estate Commission's advance approval and may not be available for classes. Please call our office at 973-380-0580 or email [email protected] so we can work with you to provide any auxiliary aids or services available. Advance notice of your special need will enable us to better accommodate you.
21. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
New Jersey Real Estate Institute does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, or familial status in the establishment of fees, entrance qualifications or standards for successful completion of any course.
Please note that attending will not obligate you to become employed with an affiliated real estate broker, nor guarantee you an interview or job with an affiliated real estate broker.
22. PRIVACY POLICY
Your privacy is important to us. It is our policy to not share your information with third party vendors. Your information will solely be used for the purpose of your real estate education and preparation for your licensing exam.
23. SMOKING POLICY
Please note that the institute is a smoke-free facility.
24. EASY OUT CLAUSE
Student and school shall have the opportunity to effect disenrollment at any time with payment given for all services or products delivered until the effective date of the disenrollment.
25. COVID-19 POLICY
Students with a temperature exceeding 100 degrees will not be admitted for any in-person or hybrid classes.
